LET US VOTE MD
We're a community for independent voters in Maryland who are tired of being treated like second-class citizens. And we're taking action. There are close to a million Marylanders - 1 out of every 5 voters. Yet we are often ignored, dismissed, and excluded from the democratic process.
We're fed up with it.

This work is challenging. How do you organize a group of people whose only common trait is their independence? Some say it's impossible. We disagree. Independents make up the largest group of voters in the United States. We are young and old, black and white, conservative, progressive, and encompass every political identity. That's why we're dedicated to fighting for the right of every voter to vote in every election.
Our election system has inherent inequities.
Independent and unaffiliated voters encounter significant barriers to participation.
What barriers?
-
While all taxpayers fund partisan elections, independent and unaffiliated voters must take additional steps to participate.
-
Independent and unaffiliated voters are required to abandon, at least temporarily, their non-affiliation principles by selecting a party ballot to vote in the primary elections.

-
Independent and unaffiliated voters who choose not to take those additional steps and/or choose not to abandon their principles are shut out entirely and disenfranchised even though they are still paying for primary elections.
